Or how it can cause a permanent deformation in your skeleton? If you are a person who does a lot of work sitting in a chair this is for you. Postural stress is the stress or pain that is caused when a person stays in a restricted position for long hours. You might have observed your friend or co-worker wriggling and slouching in his chair, undoubtedly he is suffering from postural stress. So you might question yourself what is so important about postural stress. I’ll explain it to you in detail.

The act of slouching is rather common in students and people who work for long hours in sitting posture. Usually after sitting for sometime the muscles surrounding the spine get tiered and we try to relax those muscles, assuming a slouching posture. When we slouching we might relax our spinal muscles but the muscle ligaments get overstretched. In a way deforming our spine permanently.

So, how to improve your sitting posture?

Its simple …there are a few ways mentioned below when sitting in a chair:

  1. Do not tilt your pelvis forward.
  2. Align your back with the back of the chair.
  3. Avoid slouching or leaning forward.
  4. Lift your rib cage and put your shoulders straight.
  5. Keep your feet flat on the ground and do not cross your legs.
  6. Do not lean over the desk
